If you have the new HTC Touch Diamond or the HTC Touch Pro Windows Mobile Pocket PC you sure know the comfort of the weather tab. Probably you have already added your city and the ones you travel to, but what happens when you can not find the city you want in the "Add Location" menu. Unfortunately HTC have not included adding custom locations to the weather tab and we have to turn to alternative ways to include the locations we want and are missing in the predefined weather locations in our HTC Touch Diamond or HTC Touch Pro.
How to add a custom location to the weather tab?
- If you don't have Microsoft .Net Compact Framework 3.5 install it;
- Install the WeatherDatabaseEditor from Andreas Falke download it here! For certain ROMs this version might now work but there is a patched version of the WeatherDatabaseEditor for those devices available here!
- Since the weather tab of the TouchFlo 3D uses AccuWeather to get the info about the weather forecast, go to http://www.accuweather.com/ and get the weather code for the location you want. For world wide weather click here!
This week I am planing a small trip to the Balkans to the City of Ohrid in Macedonia. So in the weather search I typed Ohrid. The URL for the weather forecast is http://www.accuweather.com/world-index-forecast.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0&loccode=EUR|MK|MK074|OHRID and the weather code you need is EUR|MK|MK074|OHRID this is the weather code you will need to enter into the WeatherDatabaseEditor.
- Open The WeatherDatabaseEditor and find the country you want. Unfortunately you can not add new countries, so if you live in a country that is not found in the predefined ones, add the location in some other country.
- Adding a location is simple, enter the name, enter the weather code you got and you are done.
- Open the weather tab of your HTC Touch Diamond or HTC Touch Pro, go to "Add Location" and find the one you just added.
- Add the location and click "Update now"!
